Mission
Founded in 2020, Karen’s mission evolved into the Oldhoven. A space where ideas, leaders, and high-level events flourish. What began as her own journey of self-discovery and renewal has grown into a calling: facilitating professionals to feel seen and valued for what they bring to the world.
Her last name carries meaning: “old” stands for timeless wisdom. “Hoven” is a living garden tended with care. Together: the old garden is a place where growth is rooted in heritage, skill and experience.
Who is Karen
Raised in a Dutch village in the eastern Netherlands, she brings energy, curiosity and a dash of humor to every project.
As a Dutch woman, circumnavigation is in her genes. Her love of travel is vast – from sleeping on a wooden bed in the Peruvian jungle, to visiting India’s Taj Mahal, to making Playa del Carmen, Mexico her second home.
At twenty, she began her career in five-star hospitality in Los Angeles, setting the stage for an international path that later spanned almost two decades in media and brand communications.
In 2020, she transitioned into entrepreneurship, always reinventing herself and working with high-level clients such as the European Commission, Google, the United Nations, Deloitte and others.
In 2023, she faced a burnout and overcome her stage anxiety on the biggest stages.
Today, she presents conferences and advises politicians, entrepreneurs and teams through sessions to communicate with clarity, whether in conversations, meetings or on stage.
